Are you making the most of apprenticeships?

” From the business side, there is a significant lack of awareness among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) of the different types of apprenticeship schemes available, with only 32 per cent saying they had heard of a Higher or Degree level apprenticeship. However, approximately half (46 per cent) of large companies had heard of these types of apprenticeship.

Of of those SMEs that were aware of apprentices, the level of enthusiasm was high: “When asked which recruits tended to be the most productive, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) tended to rate apprentices most highly, with over a third (37%) of SME respondents saying that they are the most productive of all their new recruits, compared to large companies who said that university graduates were the most productive recruits in their business (51%).” (for the full article visit smeinsider.com)

At ESP we are very enthusiastic about the role of apprentices in a business and the advantages they bring with them (aside from another pair of hands). In today’s market where companies are finding it harder and harder to recruit the right people with the right skills, apprentices are a great way of securing your future resource, trained to the standards you require, instilled with the values and passion for servicing the customer that bring your brand to life.

It is also very satisfying to see someone join the team, with little or no business experience and watch them grow into experienced, switched on individuals; in fact, we are so pleased with the success of our apprentice we are working with Grantham College ( @GranthamCollege ) to find two more.
